Gelli Plate Printing - Discover the Joy!

Join us for a friendly, hands-on workshop that explores the playful magic of gelli plate printing. This class is a follow-up to the Monotype Printing session and is designed for makers who want to deepen their printing skills and experiment with layered color, texture, and mark-making. However, no formal prerequisites are required and newcomers will be comfortable.
You will gain familiarity with basic gelli plate techniques. No matter what level of experience you have had, you will enjoy the fast moving and excitement of this process.
Over the morning you’ll
- practice building successful monotype prints,
- explore stencils and use simple texture making elements, and
- learn ways to create rich surface effects.
You will leave with several finished prints and ideas to continue at home, including three blank cards for you to embellish.
Expect relaxed instruction, plenty of experimentation, and friendly feedback in a supportive atmosphere. A welcome letter, materials list and any prep notes will be provided after registration.
No experience necessary – just come ready to explore!

Learning the Potter's Wheel
with Lindsey Samotis

Class Description: This two and a half hour workshop is designed to give registrants instruction on successfully using a potter's wheel. Each registrant will choose one creation to have kiln dried and then to glaze and complete to take home.
- Learn Mud Room basics including emergency procedures, room rules, and clean up expectations.
- Learn to cut & prepare your clay for the wheel
- Watch a demo of correct usage of the wheel with guided discussion of what is happening. Then use wheel time to get the feel of the clay and to create your form
- Learn to trim, and texturize your piece in preparation for glazing.
All materials and supplies will be there for you. Registration includes the supplies and materials, wheel time and two firings in the kiln.

Handbuilding a Ceramic Pumpkin

Class Description:
Come hand-build a pumpkin or a gourd for Thanksgiving! Make 1 big pumpkin/gourd or several smaller ones depending on your choice.
The first session will be shaping the pumpkin out of clay and decorating it various ways (with many different texture stamps available).
The 2nd session (a week later, after the pieces are bisque fired) will be glazing with a wide variety of color choices available.
No prior clay/ceramic/pottery experience necessary.

Mushroom Accent Light
with Susan Thiel

Maximum of 8 students
Minimum of 3 to hold class
Join polymer clay instructor Susan Thiel to create a unique mushroom light in the color of your choice using translucent polymer clay. Each registrant will make a translucent mushroom light (approximately 6" - 8" tall) and create a decorative base for it. Then fairy lights will be threaded through the center of the mushroom, allowing it to light up.
Registrants will have the choice of using a USB string of lights that can be plugged into a socket or a battery-operated light string.
All materials are provided.
Students are encouraged to bring a lunch and/or snack as class will run over lunch. A half hour can be taken as a lunch break during class.

Handbuilding Ceramic Bird Figurines

Class Description:
We will use pinch pot handbuilding techniques and clay tools to create fun little stoneware bird figurines.
These little birds can be used indoors or outdoors for whimsical décor, and make great gifts for birdwatchers.
This class has 2 sessions spaced 2 weeks apart. The first session is for building the birds, the second is for glazing them.
The 2 week interval allows time for the clay pieces to dry and be fired between the sessions, the pieces will be fired again after glazing before being available for pickup.

Wheel & Wine: Jewelry Dish Pottery Class

Holiday Ornaments in Stoneware Clay

Class Description:
Make beautiful and unique holiday ornaments in stoneware clay. Even though you may not see yourself as being "an artistic person" you can make these lovely pieces that can be used as tree ornaments, magnets, window or wall decorations.
Emily Millard, who is experienced working in all kinds of clay, will demonstrate several hand-building techniques, as well as how to use a variety of stamps and molds. She will also guide registrants in shaping and preparing the ornaments before placing them in the kiln.
All materials will be provided including a wide variety of themed stamps.
