Practice Series for the Potter's Wheel

Four Monday Evenings - January 6, 13, 20, 27 from 6:00-8:00pm
Prerequisite: Potter's wheel class at Artisan Village (or contact us)
This class is designed to provide guided practice time for those who have taken a first wheel class. It is not appropriate for those who have not taken an initial class.
Experienced teacher Pam Meland will guide and assist as needed.

Mindfulness Series January
with Patty Clark
Breath and relax after the hoildays. Set aside one hour a week for you. This is an opportunity to live a more spacious, grounded and creative life through mindfulness practice. Breathwork, meditation, philosophy and some gentle movement will be included.
Practice will continue and expand for those continuing, yet new registrants are welcome and will find it easy to fit in.
Dress comfortably and join us for this series of four Tuesdays. You'll appreciate this truly transformative experience.

Learning the Potter's Wheel
with Pam Meland
January 7, 2025 6:00-8:30
This two and a half hour workshop (January 7 and Glazing Day Jan 15) is designed to give registrants instruction on successfully using a potter's wheel. Each registrant will choose one of their creations to have kiln dried and then to glaze and complete to take home.
- Learn Mud Room basics including emergency procedures, room rules, and clean up expectations.
- Learn to cut & prepare your clay for the wheel
- Watch a demo of correct usage of the wheel with guided discussion of what is happening. Then use wheel time to get the feel of the clay and to create your form
- Learn to trim, and texturize your piece in preparation for glazing.
All materials and supplies will be there for you. Registration includes the supplies and materials, wheel time and two firings in the kiln.
Join Pam Meland, a veteran artist and an experienced potter from Grayling, for this enjoyable learning event!

Mug
with Pam Meland
January 8 6:00-8:00
Using a pop can or a piece of PVC pipe as a form, create a unique mug.
Add a handle and some texture and drink all the coffee you want. (Of course we'll fire it for you first, help you add glaze and then fire it again!)
Pam Meland, experienced clay teacher, will guide you through the whole process. Glaze date will be January 15, Wednesday from 6:00-8:00.

Join artist Carole Meier for lessons in creating pottery stamps for decorating your pottery creations. Registrants will learn to carve small decorative stamps, and also create a "maker's" stamp for your pottery, a tile stamp and a cookie mold.
The first session will involve creating an assortment of pottery stamps. Session two will utilize newly created stamps to create several unique art pieces. The final class will be a lesson on glazing of your creations.
All clay, tools, supplies and materials will be supplied as part of the class fee.
