Individualized Pottery Wheel Class

Time: 12:00-3:00 pm

Level: Adult Intermediate 

Instructor: Jan Wachowski

Class Description:  

Students should have some experience on the potter’s wheel. Jan will meet with each student and devise a plan for individualized instruction. This could include refining throwing skills, slip trailing, tool instruction, carving and glazing techniques.

Creations must be picked up within four months of the class.

Introduction to the Potter's Wheel

Class Notes: Bring a smock or wear clothes that can get a little messy.

Class Description: 

Interested in a relaxed crash course on using a potter's wheel? This course is for you! In this two and a half hour session, students will learn the basics of working with clay on a potter's wheel and receive guided hands-on experience from an instructor.

Each student leaves the class with two handmade creations. Students in the class can expect to:

-Learn Mud Room basics including emergency procedures, room rules, and clean up expectations

-Learn to prepare clay for the wheel

-Watch a wheel throwing demo with guided discussion of the steps 

-Spend time practicing basic wheel throwing techniques

-Have fun!

Registration includes all supplies and materials, wheel time, a glaze day, and two firings in the kiln.

Class Description:

Two sessions creating three garden art flowers in clay. Instruction in handbuilding an original design from Carole Meier's studio.

You will be learning about tools created to build your project.  Class will include discussion of concepts in the process of designing successful finished products.
