Raku Turtle Pottery Class
with Terry Dickinson
Cost: $100
First Session Date & Time: Thursday, August 6th from 10:00-12:00p for hand-building a clay turtle
Second Session Date & Time: Thursday, September 10th from 10:00am to 2:00pm for Glazing and Raku Firing
Level: Beginner

Class Notes: Please bring an old tennis ball if you have one!
Class Description:
Students will learn the basics of working with clay and receive guidedhands-on experience from an instructor. Each student leaves the class with two handmade turtles.
In the first two-hour session on Thursday, August 6th, students in the class can expect to:
-Learn Mud Room basics including emergency procedures, room rules, and clean upexpectations
-Learn to prepare clay and use the slab roller.
-Tips and techniques for creating deep texture in clay.
-Learn the principles of 3-D cartoon creations
-Have fun!
Registration includes all supplies and materials, but it you have an old tennis ball, please bring it along.
In the second four-hour session on Thursday, September 10th:
-We will explore Raku glazing techniques and ideas
-glaze the work completed in the first session
-Do a Raku firing and Reduction. (We will take a lunch break while the kiln is heating up)

Creations must be picked up within four months of the class.

Introduction to the Potter's Wheel
with Lindsey Samotis

Class Notes: Bring a smock or wear clothes that can get a little messy.
Class Description:
Interested in a relaxed crash course on using a potter's wheel? This course is for you! In this two and a half hour session, students will learn the basics of working with clay on a potter's wheel and receive guided hands-on experience from an instructor.
Each student leaves the class with two handmade creations. Students in the class can expect to:
-Learn Mud Room basics including emergency procedures, room rules, and clean up expectations
-Learn to prepare clay for the wheel
-Watch a wheel throwing demo with guided discussion of the steps
-Spend time practicing basic wheel throwing techniques
-Have fun!
Registration includes all supplies and materials, wheel time, a glaze day, and two firings in the kiln.
