Piggy Bank Handbuilding Class

Class Description:
Join the fun of making a bank. Participants will make a slab built piggy bank using a balloon as n armiture. The class will be held two consecutive days giving students plenty of time to perfect their creation.

Individualized Pottery Wheel Class

Class Description:
We will focus on improving your throwing skills, enlarging your pieces, and experimenting with different methods and forms. We will concentrate on cylinders, bowls, and plates, as well as learning different methods for making lids and handles. Various glazing techniques and decoration will be covered in the last class.
The class fee includes your time in the mudroom, instruction and guidance, clay, kiln time, and glazes.

Beginner Pottery Wheel Class

Class Description:
Ready to take the plunge and start your pottery wheel journey? This beginner series includes 4 instructor-led sessions and 1 independent glaze day and focuses on learning the basic techniques of working on the potter's wheel. Students can expect to leave this series feeling confident in the basic steps of wheel throwing. In this class, students will:
- Learn Mud Room basics including emergency procedures, room rules, and clean up expectations
- Learn to prepare clay for the wheel
- Receive skill-based instruction to cone, center, open and shape a piece on the wheel
-Spend time refining basic wheel throwing skills
-Have fun!
Registration includes all supplies and materials, wheel time, a glaze day, and two firings in the kiln.
Bring a smock or wear clothes that can get a little messy.

Class Description:
Interested in a relaxed crash course on using a potter's wheel? This course is for you! In this two and a half hour session, students will learn the basics of working with clay on a potter's wheel and receive guided hands-on experience from an instructor.
Each student leaves the class with two handmade creations. Students in the class can expect to:
-Learn Mud Room basics including emergency procedures, room rules, and clean up expectations
-Learn to prepare clay for the wheel
-Watch a wheel throwing demo with guided discussion of the steps
-Spend time practicing basic wheel throwing techniques
-Have fun!

Learn sculpting techniques in clay to make your very own garden friends! Jenny will be teaching ways to form, attach, and add texture to clay to create an animal of your choosing. Bring a picture of the kind of animal you want to sculpt, showing its whole body. We will create our sculptures and then return a few days later to add some color and life to them!
