Fun! The family is coming to visit Grayling! What better experience than to spend time together in the Mud Room to experience stoneware clay while everyone creates a unique and original piece.
In this class Mom, Dad and the kids will be experiencing and creating clay pieces together in the Mud Room. This class was specially design for this group!
$65 each person for up to four people for a 2.5 hour class and including basic supplies, glaze time and two firings.

Now what? Join Jan Wachowski who will provide you with instruction to move your skills forward! She will guide you as you develop your skills and get you moving beyond beginner level.
This class includes four lessons in the Mud Room, a bag of clay, kiln time and glaze.
Walkins are welcome. Please arrive 10 minutes early and bring $65 cash per session you'd like to join. Clay will be included for use during the session and one piece fired and glazed.

Class Description:
Learn how to make different clay slump molds. Get direction on forming dishes from the slump mold you produce.
Three sessions will enable you to produce the slump mold, build pottery dishes and complete a dip glazing process.
Instruction and information on the dos and don'ts of the slump mold process will help to understand the full process.

Learning the Potter's Wheel

Instructor: Lindsey Samotis
Class Description: This two and a half hour workshop is designed to give registrants instruction on successfully using a potter's wheel. Each registrant will choose one of their creations to have kiln dried and then to glaze and complete to take home.
- Learn Mud Room basics including emergency procedures, room rules, and clean up expectations.
- Learn to cut & prepare your clay for the wheel
- Watch a demo of correct usage of the wheel with guided discussion of what is happening. Then use wheel time to get the feel of the clay and to create your form
- Learn to trim, and texturize your piece in preparation for glazing.
All materials and supplies will be there for you. Registration includes the supplies and materials, wheel time and two firings in the kiln.

This course is designed for adults who have completed our Learning the Potter's Wheel and Beyond Basics class.
This intermediate wheel class is designed for individuals who have some experience with throwing on the pottery wheel and want to focus on consistency and efficiency.

Handbuilt Address Number Plaques

Time: 12:00 - 1:30p
Location: 122 Michigan Ave. in Mud Room
Class Description:
In this class we will use stoneware clay to create address number plaques. Using texture rollers, stencils, cookie cutters, and molds you will be able to create a fundecorative address plaque that will be fired, glazed by you in a second class session,and fired a second time to create an outdoor ready, fun, and functional piece of art.
All clay and toolswill be provided.
Emily will discuss glazing techniques utilizing both underglaze colors and the cone 5/6 firing glazes available in the mudroom room. Following the allplication of the glaze, pieces will be glaze fired and available for pickup by the following weekend after the second session.
