Mother’s Day Everlasting Flower Bouquet- a Friends & Family Class

Level: Ages 7+ (Friends and Family Friendly-Children 5-6 years old are welcome to attend if accompanied by a parent/adult to assist them with their creation. Adult does not need to pay if only assisting.)

Join instructor Susan Thiel to create a small bouquet of everlasting flowers from polymer clay, a perfect Mother’s Day gift!

Students will learn how to make a simple tulip, daisy, and cala lily. If time and interest allow, more complex carnations and roses can be added to the mix. Each student should have time to create a small bunch of flowers and a personalized tag, which can be displayed in a vase.

All materials are provided, including the vase.

This is a great opportunity to create something together with friends and family! This class was designed for youth ages 7+ years. But, children 5-6 years old are welcome to attend if accompanied by a parent to assist them with their creation. Adult does not need to pay if assisting and not using clay to make a creation.

It is recommended students bring a lunch or snack as we will be taking a lunch break from 12-12:30 am.

Decorative Polymer Clay Embellished Journals & Sketchbooks

LEVEL: 10+years old  (Younger students may attend if accompanied by an adult or older sibling for assistance. Those assistants wanting to make a journal, please register.)

MATERIALS:  Everything you need will be provided

 

Join polymer clay artist Susan Thiel to create a unique personalized journal or sketchbook! Students will select a sketchbook or lined journal to create a unique diary, sketchbook, garden journal, recipe book, birding journal, guest book for your up north retreat, pet log, and more.

After choosing the book, students will design a cover out of light weight polymer clay. Students can bring small stones, shells or other things collected from a favorite place to incorporate into the cover. In addition a variety of molds, stamps and cutters will be available to help students create their personalized cover. 

Once the unique cover is created, it is baked and then glued onto the journal. 

Class is open to 10+ years old (Younger students may attend if accompanied by an adult or older sibling for assistance. Those assistants wanting to make a journal, please register.)

All supplies are included.

Ukelele - Learning an Instrument

Class Description:

Have you ever wanted to make music but weren’t sure where to begin? Why not start with the ukulele! And a ukelele worth $70 at the Music House in Gaylord will be included in your registration fee! (Not a toy.)

You can make it all happen by joining this two part class led by local professional musician Brian Curran. As an experienced music instructor, he will walk you through the essentials of starting a successful musical journey.

The first part of the class features an engaging lecture covering the key dos and don’ts getting started, as well as practical advice on learning an instrument and making music.

After the lecture, you’ll dive right in with a hands-on beginner lesson on the ukulele. This session will guide you through tuning the instrument and mastering simple chords—perfect for those just starting out.

This class is available at two levels:

  • For $120.00, you’ll listen and participate in the lecture and steps to success AND receive both a ukulele and a carrying bag, making it easy to continue practicing at home.
  • For $65 dollars, you'll reserve a seat in the lecture portion of the class and may stay and observe the lesson.  A ukelele will not be available for you.  (To use this option enter $55OFF in the upper right corner on the promo code line on the payment page and select the + sign.)

Bottle Fairy House- A Friends & Family Class

$65

When: Saturday July 18     

9 am – 3:30 pm  Pick up "baked" project Sunday or the next week.

Ages: 12+ years (younger allowed if accompanied by an adult or older sibling)

Cost: $65 per Fairy House which includes up to two people creating each house.  Please just use one name to register.

Class size: Max is 8 registrations (1 registration can cover 2 people working together to make one house).

 

Join artist Susan Thiel to create your own fairy house using polymer clay and a recycled bottle. This project is time intensive, so it can be created by two family members or friends working together on one house such as a grandma & grandchild, mother & daughter, brother & sister or other combinations. This is a great opportunity to create something together with family and friends.

Experienced clayers will be able to finish the house solo by end of the class.

All materials will be provided, including a selection of bottles students can choose from. Fairy lights will be provided at the end of class and can be inserted inside of the house. Students are also welcome to bring their own bottle to cover if they wish.

Due to the size of the finished house, Susan will need to take the fairy houses home to bake. So students will need to pick up completed fairy houses starting the next day.  Note, once baked, these fairy houses are weatherproof and make a great addition to the outdoor garden. 

This is a full day class from 9 am – 3:30 pm, with a half hour lunch break. It is recommended participants bring a lunch.
