Winter is here! Join teacher, Val Whaley for a fun time experiencing art materials and techniques to create art works to enjoy. Each child will create unique pieces to take home. 

First, children will paint using a scraper to blend winter colors together.  Once that is done, they will glue snowflake confetti to the painting.  After that, studnets can choose to stamp snowflakes with paint and cookie cutters, decorate a snowflake with sequins, or use beads with pipe cleaners to make a snowflake ornament.

Snack and juice will be provided as well as all the supplies for the class.

Be sure to wear play clothing, it could get really messy!

Pablo Picasso and Vincent VanGogh are famous artists that people know right away. In this class Val Whaley, will open minds and eyes to other artists.  They will include Jackson Pollock, Alma Thomas, and Dale Chihuly.  

Students will study the artists style and then "try it out" themselves in exploratory works.  So fun!

Paint with a brush?? Who says that's the way to paint??  Join teacher, Val Whaley for a fun hour exploring other ways to paint!   

Each child will choose a "center" from these options:  stamping with cookie cutters, painting with DuPlos and other common items, creating abstract art with paint and shaving cream, rolling trucks and cars on paper, painting with bubble wrap or using paint with cottonballs on canvas.

Who knew that Washi tape can be used for more than scrapbooking? This 

class is focused on the process of designing and painting.  Each child will randomly place Washi tape on a canvas and then use liquid watercolor paint to fill in the spaces between the tape. 

Throughout the class the children will be in control of their own art. The product may look chaotic and unplanned, and that's OK!  This is a good chance to ask your child to "tell me about your art" and then listen carefully to the response.

You start with string, pins or nails , paper and a board. You end up with adorable art!  

Students in this class will first learn about three ways in which to "loop" the string around pins or nails. Those are "scribble, fan and zigzag." 

Teacher Val Whaley will lead the class through a project using each of those ways.  Each child will leave with at least three completed projects.  What fun!
