Fabulous Wool Felting Series

Have you ever seen a basket full of colorful wool roving, and you just wanted to hold it and create something with it?  This is your chance to play with wool and learn how to needle felt.  Felting is a great introduction to fiber arts as it does not require intensive equipment.  It also is a very portable hobby.  All you need are felting needles, wool, and a felting mat.

Come join instructor Susan Thiel as she introduces you to the basic concepts of wool felting over a four week course, three hours each week.  One evening a week, students will meet and learn a new technique and complete a small project as listed below.

Week 1: Learn the basics about needles, wool roving, and mats used for dry needle felting.  Create soft sculpted felted hearts that can be turned into a sachet, broach, pin cushion, a flower, or just used as décor.

Week 2:  Learn landscape painting with wool.  Each student will design a sunset landscape off the photo of their choice and learn how to create the scene with wool.

Week 3: Learn how to create a free standing 3D wool sculpture with wire armature.  Create a small wacky bird with feet in your favorite colors.

Week 4:  This is an opportunity to ask questions and finish up our bird sculpture if it has not been completed yet.  Susan will also give a quick demonstration on the technique of wet felting.

All supplies are provided, including felting needles and mats.  If a student falls in love with needle felting and wishes to continue, the needle felting tools that they used can be purchased at a nominal fee.

This is a great opportunity to join a friend, learn a new craft, and spend an evening relaxing and creating!
