First Session Date & Time: Saturday, August 8th from 10:00-12:00p for hand-building a clay turtle

Second Session Date & Time: Saturday, September 12th from 10:00am- 2:00pm for Glazing and Raku Firing

Level: Beginner

Class Notes: Please bring an old tennis ball if you have one!

Class Description:

Students will learn the basics of working with clay and receive guidedhands-on experience from an instructor. Each student leaves the class with two handmade turtles.

In the first two-hour session on Saturday, August 8th, students in the class can expect to:

-Learn Mud Room basics including emergency procedures, room rules, and clean upexpectations

-Learn to prepare clay and use the slab roller.

-Tips and techniques for creating deep texture in clay. 

-Learn the principles of 3-D cartoon creations

-Have fun!

Registration includes all supplies and materials, but it you have an old tennis ball, please bring it along.

In the second four-hour session on Saturday, September 12th:

-We will explore Raku glazing techniques and ideas

-glaze the work completed in the first session

-Do a Raku firing and Reduction. (We will take a lunch break while the kiln is heating up)

Creations must be picked up within four months of the class.
