Intro to the MUD ROOM 1

Registration required to reserve a spot for you.
This 30-45 minute class is the gateway to enjoying the Mud Room. It is required for registering for any class. At the end of the class, registrants will receive a verification card to show that this required class has been completed.
In order to assure enjoyable and safe experiences in the Mud Room, registrants will get a tour of the area to know where things are located and learn how to safely enter, exit and move about the area when people are present. Expectations for using the Mud Room, such as cleaning your tools and work area, will be reviewed.
The agenda will cover safety procedures for the building and equipment so that people will have a safe and happy clay journey! Registrants will discover how the classes will be organized and how scheduling time in the Mud Room will work. Instructors will answer your questions or collect them for later by getting them on the I"M WONDERING list.

Beginning Clay: Small Clay Pot
with Pam Meland
A beginning clay class for learning a slab/coil combination. Because it is easier to handle a small amount of clay, this pot will be small. But, it will be big enough to hold a small succulent - and it will be provided for your finished project!
Since these pots will be fired twice, registrants will need to attend a second session to complete the process. This date will be set at the first class.
All materials and supplies will be there for you to use and are included in the price of registration.

Stoneware Clay Basics - evening
with Carole Meier
As an entry point class, this three week series will feature three two hour sessions exploring clay. Registrants will learn basics of handling stoneware clay and come to understand properties and nuances of pottery clay and clay tools. Techniques will start with handbuilding and progress to a beginner session on the potter's wheel.
Please join experienced clay artist Carole Meier as she discusses terms and definitions and then guides registrants through creating various pieces and assembling them into a unique piece.
This class will enhance any future adventure you may want to take into the world of making and creating unique pottery.
All clay, tools, supplies and materials will be supplied.

Roses in Watercolor
with Ruth Forman
Gain quality insights into the beautiful world of watercolor art under the guidance of award-winning artist, Ruth Forman. Ruth is a Costa Rica-born American artist who has been teaching for over a decade. She has exhibited and won awards world-wide and is a member of many watercolor societies. Ruth will teach the fundamentals of loose watercolor painting with flowers as a subject, and students will walk away with more confidence in watercolor.
This class is designed for 14+ to adults.
Students need to bring their own supplies.

Paddle Painting (Acrylic)
with Pam Meland
Use a paddle as your canvas!
AAV artist Pam Meland will guide you as you painting with acrylic paint on wooden paddles fabricated by Kirtland Community College and finished by AAV artist Joe Ellison - a truly unique painting surface! By the end of class, you'll have a unique paddle artwork ready to hang or gift.
$25 paddle blank fee due at beginning of class. Please bring cash.
